Burnt Obsidian Weapons set (weapon design, scifi)

To this day, it is not clear who (or what) was able to forge a weapons set out of what is commonly known as "Burnt Obsidian" - or, more technically speaking: anaerobic tectosilicate polymorphic composite alloy.
Due to the outstanding physical capabilities of said alloy, these weapons exhibit borderline incredible features - such as incredible reliability (due to this material's ruggedness), or capacity to handle flawlessly even the hottest antiarmor loads.
This fantastic weapons set has only one issue: they're so rare that being found in possession of one is penal offence in 7 different federations - but that won't stop you looking for one, wouldn't it?
